LAB Price Trend 2026 | Forecast, Chart, Prices and Index

The LAB Price Trend during Q2 2026 showed a sharp increase across major global markets. Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) prices rose strongly compared with the previous quarter as the cost of important raw materials such as benzene and kerosene moved higher.

At the same time, demand from detergent, surfactant, and cleaning product manufacturers remained healthy. Higher energy costs, freight expenses, and uncertainty in international shipping also added pressure to the market.

However, the market started to cool in June 2026, when feedstock costs eased, inventories improved, and buyers became more careful with new purchases. LAB is an important chemical used mainly in the production of detergents and cleaning products.

Because of this connection with everyday consumer products, its price is closely linked to raw material costs, manufacturing expenses, transportation, and overall demand. When these factors move quickly, LAB Prices can also change noticeably within a short period.

Understanding the LAB Price Trend in Q2 2026

The second quarter of 2026 was a strong period for the global LAB market. Compared with Q1, LAB prices increased by roughly 52% to 69% across the major markets covered in the quarter.

One of the biggest reasons behind this increase was the rise in benzene and kerosene costs. These feedstocks play an important role in LAB production, so higher raw material costs naturally increased the cost of producing and supplying LAB.

Demand also played an important role. Detergent and cleaning product manufacturers continued to purchase LAB, while demand from the wider surfactant sector remained supportive. When buyers continue purchasing while production costs are rising, suppliers generally have more room to maintain higher prices.

Another factor during the quarter was uncertainty in global energy and shipping markets. Geopolitical tensions involving the USA, Israel, and Iran contributed to uncertainty around energy prices, freight, and international logistics. This created additional pressure on delivered and export prices.

The result was a strong overall LAB Price Trend through much of Q2.

What Happened to LAB Prices in June 2026?

Although the second quarter was generally bullish, the market did not continue moving higher throughout the entire period.

In June, LAB Prices declined across the major markets. The decrease was approximately 10% to 13%, depending on the region.

There were several reasons for this change. Feedstock prices started to correct, which reduced some of the pressure on LAB production costs. Export and import demand also became less aggressive. At the same time, inventories improved, giving buyers less reason to purchase large quantities immediately.

Buyer behavior is especially important in chemical markets. When prices are rising, buyers may purchase additional material to protect themselves against further increases. Once prices begin to soften, however, buyers often become more cautious and wait for better opportunities. This appears to have happened in June.

As a result, the strong Q2 increase was followed by a noticeable correction toward the end of the quarter.

Saudi Arabia LAB Price Trend

Saudi Arabia recorded one of the strongest increases during Q2 2026. Export prices for 98% assay LAB on an FOB Al-Jubail basis increased by approximately 65.5% compared with Q1.

Higher benzene and kerosene costs were major factors behind the increase. Export demand from detergent manufacturers also remained healthy, helping suppliers maintain firm pricing.

The regional energy market and shipping environment added another layer of uncertainty. Higher logistics risks and freight costs contributed to the strength of export quotations during the quarter.

However, June brought a change in direction. LAB prices in Saudi Arabia declined by approximately 13.4% as feedstock costs softened, export demand weakened, and inventories improved.

This shows how quickly the LAB market can respond when the balance between supply, demand, and raw material costs changes.

Qatar LAB Price Trend

Qatar also experienced a significant increase in LAB prices during Q2 2026. Export prices for 98% assay LAB on an FOB Mesaieed basis increased by approximately 64.8% from the previous quarter.

Higher benzene costs and steady export demand supported supplier pricing. Shipping uncertainty also remained an important market factor during the quarter.

The strong energy market environment contributed to firm FOB offers, while higher production expenses kept the LAB Price Index at elevated levels.

By June, however, prices declined by around 12.6%. The decline was linked to softer crude oil prices, more moderate export demand, and delayed buying activity.

The Qatar market therefore followed the broader global pattern: a strong rise during most of Q2 followed by a correction toward the end of the quarter.

China LAB Price Trend

China recorded an increase of approximately 51.8% in LAB export prices during Q2 2026, making it the lowest percentage increase among the major markets discussed, although the rise was still substantial.

Higher benzene costs provided strong cost support. Demand from detergent and surfactant manufacturers also remained healthy, helping maintain firm export prices.

International energy and logistics uncertainty added further support to the market. Higher costs and uncertainty around shipping made exporters more cautious and contributed to stronger pricing conditions.

The direction changed in June, when Chinese LAB prices declined by approximately 10.1%. Softer feedstock costs, slower export demand, and improved inventories all contributed to the correction.

The Chinese market highlights the importance of watching both domestic conditions and international trade when assessing the LAB Price Trend.

Spain LAB Price Trend

Spain saw LAB export prices increase by approximately 64.8% during Q2 2026 compared with the previous quarter.

Higher benzene costs and healthy export demand supported the increase. European energy and logistics conditions also played a role in keeping prices firm during the quarter.

The market faced higher production and transportation costs, which helped keep the LAB Price Index elevated. Export prices remained strong for much of the quarter as suppliers dealt with higher operating expenses.

In June, however, prices declined by approximately 11.8%. The correction was mainly associated with lower feedstock costs and weaker export demand.

This movement demonstrates that the European LAB market was not isolated from the broader global changes in raw materials and trade conditions.

Germany LAB Price Trend

Germany recorded an increase of approximately 61.8% in Q2 2026 for imported LAB prices on a CIF Hamburg basis from Spain.

Unlike an export market, the German price reflects the cost of bringing material into the country. This means freight, shipping conditions, and other landed costs can have a meaningful effect on the final price.

During Q2, higher import costs and healthy demand from detergent and cleaning product manufacturers supported the market. Shipping uncertainty also kept import quotations elevated.

The LAB Price Chart for Germany therefore reflected the combination of higher feedstock costs and higher landed costs.

In June, prices declined by approximately 11.6% as import demand softened and supplier offers weakened.

The German market shows why buyers should look beyond the basic production cost when studying LAB prices. Transportation and import conditions can also have a major impact on the final market level.

India LAB Price Trend

India experienced the largest increase among the markets covered in the Q2 2026 data. Imported LAB prices on a CIF Calcutta Sea basis from Saudi Arabia increased by approximately 68.8% compared with Q1.

Several factors supported this sharp rise. Import costs increased, benzene values remained elevated, and demand from detergent and surfactant manufacturers stayed healthy.

Domestic pricing was also firm because producers faced higher production expenses. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty increased freight costs and created disruptions and uncertainty in international shipping.

These factors combined to create a strong LAB Price Trend in India during Q2.

However, the market also saw a correction in June. LAB prices declined by around 12.9% as feedstock costs softened, import demand moderated, and buyers became more cautious about procurement.

For buyers, this change is important because it shows that a strong quarterly increase does not necessarily mean prices will continue rising every month.

LAB Price Chart: What the Q2 Movement Shows

The LAB Price Chart for Q2 2026 would show a clear upward movement across all the major markets, followed by a decline in June.

The strongest quarterly increase in the supplied data was recorded in India at around 68.8%, followed by Saudi Arabia at 65.5%, Qatar and Spain at 64.8%, Germany at 61.8%, and China at 51.8%.

Despite the different market structures, the general direction was similar. Higher feedstock costs and healthy demand pushed prices upward, while June brought a correction.

This common movement suggests that raw material and international market conditions were major drivers of the LAB market during the quarter.

LAB Price Index and Market Conditions

The LAB Price Index remained supported during most of Q2 because the underlying cost structure of the market was high.

Benzene and kerosene prices were particularly important. When these inputs become more expensive, LAB producers face higher costs, which can eventually be reflected in market prices.

Freight and logistics were also important. LAB is traded internationally, so shipping costs and supply-chain uncertainty can influence the price paid by buyers in different countries.

However, the June correction showed that the LAB Price Index can also respond quickly when raw material costs decline and buying activity becomes weaker.

LAB Price Forecast: What Could Influence the Market Ahead?

Looking beyond Q2, the future direction of LAB prices will depend on several practical factors.

First, benzene and crude oil prices will remain important. If feedstock costs stay elevated, LAB prices may continue to receive cost support. If raw material prices decline further, producers may face less pressure to maintain high selling prices.

Second, detergent and surfactant demand will be important. Strong downstream consumption can support LAB prices, while weaker demand may encourage buyers to delay purchases.

Third, inventories will matter. Higher stock levels can reduce immediate buying pressure, while tighter inventories can make buyers more active.

Finally, freight and geopolitical conditions can influence international prices. Changes in shipping costs, energy markets, or trade routes can quickly affect import and export economics.

For this reason, any LAB Price Forecast should be viewed as dependent on changing market conditions rather than as a fixed outcome.
